Community Participation

 

Leura Day Options provides educational and enjoyable activity programs for adults with a variety of support needs. It is funded by the NSW Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) as a Post School Options and Community Participation provider.


Our programs:

  • Are based on individual needs 
  • Use our centre and community based facilities 
  • Offer both small group and individual sessions 
  • Place a high priority on community access


Aims of the service:

  • To provide stimulating, age appropriate activities based on individual needs
  • To promote independence in all areas
  • To maintain and further develop existing skills
  • To improve quality of life
  • To promote communication and choice making skills
  • To have fun

 

Program Options

  • Leisure and Recreation: a range of options are available based on individual choice-music, cooking, art, craft. 
  • Social Programs: eating out, coffee shop, concerts, shopping. 
  • Personal Development: a variety of activities that enhance personal development and independence. 
  • Sensory Programs: aromatherapy, touch equipment, sensory room, massage therapy. 
  • Movement and Motor Programs: relaxation, fine and gross motor activities. 
  • Community Access: local attractions, movies, tenpin bowling, shopping. 
  • Communication Programs: devised to enhance and further develop individual communication systems. 
  • Therapy Programs: music therapy, physio and exercise therapy, spa
  •  Work skills
  • Life skills: independent living, banking, cooking etc 
  • Numeracy and literacy skills


Hours of Operation:

The service operates Monday to Friday between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm.


Entry Criteria:

Attendance within the program is negotiated on an individual basis dependent on need and special requirementsEssential requirements include:


  • Being 18 years or older 
  • Must be leaving or have left school 
  • Have a disability-our focus is on very high support need, but not high behavioural need 
  • Small daily fee applies

 

Other Features:

  • The program is wheelchair accessible. 
  • Wheelchair accessible vehicles available 
  • Trained staff
